Franchise theatre school join top dance professionals at MOVE IT

Thousands of professional performers and teachers apply but only a select handful get chosen to teach at the prestigious MOVE IT event on 10-12 March at Excel London.

MOVE IT is the world’s biggest dance event, celebrating all forms of dance and the performing arts. Some of the country’s biggest dancers, choreographers and teachers will be showcasing their talents, connecting the community through dance.

This year’s event will include a host of famous names. This includes Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones who will be teaching an exclusive Urban Ballroom class through to West End, TV and film star Layton Williams who will be offering a Musical Theatre spectacular.

Together with this famous line up is Emily Nachshon, Principal of Razzamataz Medway and former professional dancer and choreographer.

Razzamataz Franchise To Join Dance Professionals At MOVE ITEmily Nachshon has been part of Razzamataz Medway as a dance teacher since its opening in 2010. Emily combined working at Razzamataz with being a professional dancer appearing alongside artists such as Alexandra Burke and Tinie Tempah and performing at the Royal Variety Performance.

“I was fortunate to be a professional dancer working all over the world with various artists,” says Emily. “I have taught all over the country for students of all ages and abilities and I feel so honoured and proud to be teaching at MOVE IT on behalf of Razzamataz.”

Emily has been an integral part of the Razzamataz network and brings years of experience to share with children and young performers. “Razzamataz has been a huge part of my life for the last 13 years and has helped shape me to be the person I am today,” she says. “I am so excited to meet some new students and show them the Razzamataz way and values.”

Razzamataz Medway provides countless opportunities for students and Emily is delighted that MOVE IT will be another one for them to enjoy. Emily says: “I’m taking two older students to assist me on the day, which will be great experience for them and some of our younger students have booked on to the class, which is so lovely to have the support from them.”

Emily’s experience is so valuable because she can provide an understanding of what is needed to succeed in the performing arts industry. “I often use examples from the industry such as professionalism, how to network and making sure they get to class and get seen by top choreographers,” says Emily “I’m fortunate to use my connections from the industry when it comes to inviting incredible performers and choreographers into our guest workshops, which are always so inspiring for the students.”

The environment and classes at Razzamataz teach important life skills, which are important for not only those that want to go into the profession but for all students to reach their full potential. “I am constantly reminding the students that they never know who they will come into contact with in the big wide world, so treat everyone as you would want to be treated,” she adds.

Over three days, it is expected more than 27,000 people will walk (or dance) through the doors to take part in classes, watch performances and get specialist careers advice. For the students at Razzamataz Medway, many have already gained this insight thanks to Emily and her team.

“I help lots of our students with their college applications and advising them on which colleges would suit them because it can be quite overwhelming for them and their parents if they haven’t experienced this before,” says Emily. “We have many past students working in the industry or currently in professional training since leaving Razzamataz Medway. Colleges such as Urdang, Performers, London Studio Centre, D&B and The Brit School all have Medway students attending. Some students are now working as professionals in the West End including Robson Broad who debuted in Hamilton and is now first cover male lead in Moulin Rouge. We also have Molly Kane who is currently lead vocalist on Celebrity Cruises and our current vocal coach/alumni has just been booked as lead vocalist on Viking Cruises.”
